One-year-old girl dies after being hit by a car at holiday campsite

A toddler has been tragically killed at a campsite with her family in a collision with a vehicle. The one-year-old girl, who hasn't been named, was airlifted from the campsite with serious injuries from the "family-friendly site" on the foot of Snowdonia in Wales. A one-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car at a Welsh holiday camping site.

The unnamed youngster was struck by the vehicle at the Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park in Betws Garmon, near Caernarfon, Gwynedd, at 10.20am.

She was airlifted 80 miles away to Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool but died this afternoon.

Sergeant Simon Hughes said: ‘Our profound sympathies remain with the girl’s family at this extremely difficult time.

‘They will now be supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

‘The investigation to establish the cause of the collision is well underway and I would like to thank all those who assisted on the site today.’

The coroner has been informed.

The force added they are unable to release further details at this time.
